Comparing the BITs-Kit Sets
To start- each kit option is, for the most part, equally sharp on the cutting edge. All sizes are consistent to within .0025”. One of each required size is included (+ one optional Carbide Buring Bit)… They are all color coded by size, and all have the drill depth indicator marks for the JIG Drilling process…
So, what’s the difference between a $30 High Speed Steel Kit & $140 Carbide Kit?
In general, the more expensive materials (Carbide and Cobalt), will hold the cutting edge longer and operate at a cooler temperature than typical High Speed Steel Drill Bits. Our HSS ‘Thunder-Bit’s’ set- while still HSS, is a step up from ‘typical’ run of the mill bits. They include proprietary design aspects that make them a MUCH better HSS, and provide great value. In short, all of this amounts to you completing the work with Ease & Precision- and results in a longer lasting cutting edge for more Holes. (More Holes=More MUP1s).
In our experience, when the technique of machining your MUP is correct (i.e. The speed & feed + frequently applying the quality cutting oil)- our KILO-BITs Kit will easily complete 1, 2-3 MUPs. While the GIGA BITs Cobalt Bits increases the hole count to comfortably completing 3-4… & TERA-BITs Carbide Bits easily takes you to 4, 5-6, possibly more… THERE ARE MANY VARIABLES, not withstanding your experience and the other tools used with the drilling process.
Our estimates here do not constitute any guarantees, but are credited as a “rule of thumb” example. If you have tried anything else before these- you will feel the difference when you start your drilling process vs. the typical variety. To help meet your preferences, our kits gradually transition from economical High Speed Steel, mid-range Cobalt and high-end Carbide by combining materials into one kit, or optionally going all in with one material or another.
